Eating Out

Eating out is not only enjoyable but is a great way to mingle with others, too. If you're a student or new to the area, meeting up with friends and acquaintances to eat out is a good idea, and can be really fun, as well.

So it only seems right to point out here that being a tenant in Birmingham is perfect for those who enjoy a good meal out. By renting accommodation in Birmingham, you are surrounded by some fabulous restaurants and places to get a bite to eat. While there are the more mainstream eateries here in Brum that you would expect, such as Nando's, Pizza Express etc. there's also a number of other, more intriguing restaurants in this city that you probably won't be as familiar with. Encompassing cuisine that takes in a diverse mix of food, you're not short on restaurant choices in Birmingham. Keep reading for an insight into what you can discover here.

Comptoir Libanais

Relatively new to Grand Central where it currently sits amongst brightly lit shops and the aroma of other eateries clustered nearby, Comptoir Libanais is a memorable place. Vibrantly decorated inside and featuring a splendid selection of drinks, meals and desserts, Comptoir Libanais gives you a taste of the Middle East with a unique twist all of its own. Maybe not one that you could afford on a regular basis, Comptoir Libanais is nonetheless is a lovely venue to meet with mates for lunch or dinner. Oh, and the baklava is delicious!

Loco Lounge

Located on the Kings Heath High Street, Loco Lounge is an immensely affable place with superb food, nice décor and super service. Well-priced and offering you a varied selection of food to choose from, it also introduces a dash of the exotic through the inclusion of its terrifically tasty range of tapas dishes. Also great for brunches in the morning or simply just a cup of good-tasting coffee, Loco Lounge is definitely one to put on your list.

Baltis

Birmingham is the home of the balti. And while curries are pretty much a commonplace part of the take away landscape these days, there's no denying how satisfying it is going out for a balti, or ordering one in. This city overflows with options for curry houses and there are many that cannot be mentioned without an accompanying recommendation. What's also really great about Birmingham baltis is that they are so reasonably priced, making them more than suitable for the student budget, or those times when the bank balance is running a little low.

Ed's Diner

A little greasier, but no less tasty, Ed's Diner is another one in Grand Central that is hard to walk past without being tempted to go in. Ed's is a retro 50's US-style diner that does 'shakes, ice cream and has an endless supply of slamming rock n roll tracks being played over the speakers. The menu is filled with some mouth-watering dishes, and the prices are fairly reasonable as well. In addition, it's well-worth trying their breakfasts too, as they're totally yummy.

Akamba

For a tremendously tasty trip through Africa and the Caribbean, head-to Akamba. A delightful garden centre with adjoining Tribe Eatery, just visiting Akamba is a magical experience. Featuring an array of massive metal animal sculptures dotted around its premises and adorned with numerous fascinating pieces of art, Akamba is so much fun, and the food is brilliant, too. Tuck into such dishes as jerk chicken, butternut squash curry and sweet potato bake, and follow it up with a moreish Kahawa Swahili spicy coffee and maybe a little dessert.

Paprika Grill UK

Easy to get to for Selly Oak students and able to deliver to your front door, Paprika Grill UK is a restaurant that serves delicious Middle Eastern-themed cuisine. Perhaps a little more expensive than the average takeaway place, the quality of Paprika's food is outstanding.
